ANNIE L. JEFFERSON MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP

Annie L. Jefferson was a remarkable woman whose life was a testament to

resilience, generosity, and unwavering faith. Though she faced the challenge of blindness, Annie never allowed it to dim her spirit or hinder her from helping others. With a heart full of compassion, she was known for touching lives in meaningful ways, always offering a helping hand and an encouraging word.

Annie found great joy and inspiration in gospel music, and her favorite artist was the legendary Mahalia Jackson. She loved Mahalia’s soothing yet spirit-filled voice — a voice so powerful it captivated hearts and lifted souls closer to God. Like Mahalia's music, Annie’s life radiated grace, strength,and hope.

In honor of their mother’s legacy, Annie’s sons now seek to continue her legacy of generosity by establishing the Annie L. Jefferson Scholarship. This scholarship aims to support and uplift students, providing them with opportunities to pursue their educational dreams. Through this act of kindness, Annie’s unwavering spirit of giving lives on, inspiring future generations to rise above their challenges and make a positive impact in the world.

Please be prepared to upload the following supporting documents to your application file:

1. An unofficial and recent high school transcript, showing cumulative grade point average and class standing/rank.

2. Two (2) Signed letters of recommendation from the following: an employer, community member, club sponsor, coach, or individual with significant knowledge of applicant’s character, experience and involvement.

Letters may NOT come from family members.

3. Essay. On a separate sheet, please address the following questions, in

300-500 words:

• Background and academic achievements
• Career Aspirations
• How will this scholarship help you achieve your goals
